As the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder does press for the movie’s approaching premiere, star and long time Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed this may be his final Marvel appearance.
Hemsworth has stressed he doesn’t know for sure but he’s “played that character for ten, eleven, years now.” Hemsworth did clarify this has no impact on the film, saying the film felt new and exciting and quoted director Taika Waititi in saying the film felt like “a wacky, wild, romantic comedy set in space.”
Before the rumor mill takes over, of course, Hemsworth took the liberty of noting that he adores playing the character and “would continue to do so if people wanted me to.” He elaborates in saying the challenge of continuing a long running character is needing to reinvent them every time in order to keep the audience excited and entertained – and that it is challenging but also part of the enjoyment.
There really is no yes or no as to whether or not Thor: Love and Thunder is Hemsworth’s final run as the Asgardian god, but the truth of the matter is no plans have been made for a Thor 5.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released next month on July 8th.
