The live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch is breaking records at the box office. Released over the Memorial Day weekend, Lilo & Stitch follows a little girl’s blossoming friendship with a dog-like alien.

Lilo & Stitch now hold the record for top memorial-day opening at $182.6 million. This puts it ahead of films like Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This number also places it as the second largest four-day opening of any holiday, only behind Black Panther.

When competing with its other Disney live-action siblings, Lilo & Stitch comes in at third. Its three-day earnings of $146 million put it behind only the live action The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

In addition to these already impressive feats, Lilo & Stitch has had the fifth biggest Monday of all time domestically, the second-best domestic opening of this year, the biggest Disney live-action opening across Latin America, and the seventh best opening of all time for any PG title.

Needless to say, Lilo & Stitch are breaking records left and right, and with much more time in theaters ahead, it will be exciting to see how far it will go.
