‘Little Woods’ Trailer, Starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James

The first trailer for the American-Australian crime thriller and western film Little Woods released yesterday. It stars American actress Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok, Sorry To Bother You) and English Actress Lily James (Baby Driver, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) in the lead roles. It is written and directed by Nia DaCosta, being her directorial debut.Little Woods follows two estranged sisters in a small North Dakota town following the death of their terminally ill mother. Ollie (Thompson) was once a drug runner but has since been reformed. Deb (James), with her child and an accidental pregnancy, seeks help after the passing of their mother. With money not coming easily in their town and the bank on their backs for their mother’s home, Ollie must think of a way to generate cash to keep the house and Deb away from her abusive ex-husband. She sees no other option but to return to the dangerous dealings and habits of her past life.

The film looks to be emotionally charged with powerful performances from Thompson and James as well as an extremely tense story of survival and violence. Little Woods premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April of last year, to quite a bit of acclaim, and is scheduled for a release in select US theaters on April 19, this year. It is distributed by Neon and the full trailer can be checked out below.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
