Lionsgate and WWE’s ‘Lockdown’ Will Star Professional Wrestler Dean Ambrose

World Wrestling Entertainment recently struck a deal with Lionsgate to produce six films together. The first of these films, a thriller titled Vendetta starring profestional wrestler Paul White, aka Big Show, was announced in May. We now know the second film will be an action film starring another of the WWE’s wrestling talents, Jonathan Good, aka Dean Ambrose, titled Lockdown.

Ambrose is a rising star in the WWE roster. He started with the company in 2011, and made waves as a member of the wrestling trio known as The Shield. Since the team’s breakup in 2014, Ambrose has gained momentum as a solo performer, notable for his somewhat offbeat and unhinged, yet undeniably driven personality (in character, of course). Lockdown will be Ambrose’s first acting role, if you don’t can’t his performance as his wrestling persona – and many would.

Other recent films produced by Lionsgate and WWE – but not part of the six picture deal – include the horror sequel, See No Evil 2 – starring wrestler Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane – and the reboot of the Leprechaun horror movie franchise, Leprechaun Origins – starring wrestler Dylan Post, aka Hornswoggle.

Lockdown will be directed by Stephen Reynolds (Tomb Raider: Ascension) with a screenplay by the writers of See No Evil 2, Nathan Brooks and Bobby Lee Darby. No release date has been set.
