Linda Cardellini has been added to the cast of Daddy’s Home, the newly announced comedy staring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new comedy from directors Sean Anders and John Morris (We’re The Millers), centers on a radio executive (Ferrell) looking to become the best stepdad to his wife’s children, only to have their freeloading father (Wahlberg) come back into their lives.
Cardellini’s role for the film hasn’t been confirmed but it seems safe to assume she will play Ferrell’s wife. While the actress is known for her dramatic work on TV shows like Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, and ER, she has played funny roles in comedies like Grandma’s Boy, Legally Blonde, and TV’s New Girl.
This is the first time Ferrell and Wahlberg have stared in a film together since 2010’s The Other Guys, where they played mismatched partners. This time around it looks like they’ll be direct adversaries. Adam McKay, who directed The Other Guys, is a co-writer and producer here.
Along with We’re The Millers, Anders and Morris wrote and directed the cult comedies Sex Drive and Hot Tub Time Machine. The duo’s latest collaboration, Horrible Bosses 2, hits theaters just in time for Thanksgiving weekend, November 26th. A definitive release date hasn’t been announced for Daddy’s Home, though it is set to hit theaters some time in 2015.
