Fans of the Insidious franchise will be interested to know that the next installment is set to begin filming in Australia next week. The sixth film in the long-running horror series will be directed by Jacob Chase and will star Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve. The Blumhouse and Sony production follows 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, which grossed nearly $190 million worldwide and became the most successful film in the Screen Gems and Stage 6 distributed franchise. The series has earned more than $740 million globally.
Shaye (There’s Something About Mary, The Grudge) is reprising her role as Elise Rainier. Despite her character’s death in the first film, she has appeared in multiple sequels and prequels. Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell and Island Austin have also joined the cast. Chase previously directed Come Play, starring Gillian Jacobs, and the 2023 short, Trouble, featuring Anthony Rapp. The screenplay for Insidious 6 was co-written by Chase and David Leslie Johnson, who also wrote for The Conjuring films. Plot details remain under wraps.
The film is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and David Leslie Johnson.
Insidious 6 is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 21, 2026.
