Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘In The Heights’ Trailer Debuts, Anthony Ramos Stars

The trailer for the upcoming musical In The Heights is finally out.

Anthony Ramos stars as lead character Usnavi de la Vega, a Hispanic-American based in the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights. The trailer shows him retelling the story of his youth in Washington Heights to a group of kids on a beach, with the flashback characters introducing themselves to us via song. In a somber twist, one man tells Usnavi that the odds are against him. The rest of the trailer becomes a montage of emotional clips with an inspiring and hopeful song to accompany it. Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Cho directed the film, which is based on the play written by Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book written by Quiara Alegría Hudes, who also wrote the screenplay. Miranda, Hudes, Scott Sanders, Anthony Bregman, and Mara Jacobs will serve as producers on the film.

Ramos is joined in the cast by Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Jimmy Smits. In the Heights will be distributed by Warner Bros. and will be making its way to theaters on June 26, 2020.
