Oscar-nominee Lily Gladstone is the most recently announced cast member of Michael B. Jordan’s reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair. Gladstone will star alongside Oscar-winner Kenneth Branagh, Taylor Russell, and Jordan. The Amazon MGM Studios film began shooting this week in London.
Though the plot of the high-end thriller remains under wraps, it is rumored that Branagh will play a villainous role and Russell will play the private detective. Gladstone’s role has not yet been revealed.
The original movie of the same name was released by United Artists in 1968. Starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, it followed a bank robber who falls for the insurance investigator tailing him. The film was remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair was penned by Drew Pearce of The Fall Guy and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. The previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. The original writer, Alan Trustman, is an executive producer of this film.
Charles Roven of Oppenheimer recently signed on to produce under his Atlas Entertainment banner. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo are producing under Outlier society as well.
The Thomas Crown Affair is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on March 5, 2027. It will be shown in IMAX.
