Liam Neeson is currently in talks to portray Viola Davis’ husband in Steve McQueen’s upcoming film Widows. This will be Steve McQueen’s first film since his Academy Award- winning picture 12 Years a Slave. Variety was the first to report this story.
Gone Girl screenwriter and novelist Gillian Flynn will write the script, basing the series off of the 1983 British miniseries. The story follows a group of widows who take over a crime business after the death of their husbands. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Andre Holland, Daniel Kaluuya, Elizabeth Debicki, and Cynthia Erivo. Viola Davis and Cynthia Erivo are also set to star in a Harriet Tubman biopic.
Neeson recently could be seen in A Monster Calls and Martin Scorsese’s Silence. He will next be seen in action/thriller The Commuter, spy thriller Felt, and is rumored to be starring in Isle of Man with Matt Damon.
