The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 star Liam Hemsworth is rumored to have been offered the lead in the upcoming Independence Day sequel ID Forever.
The star of the original 1996 alien invasion blockbuster, Will Smith (the upcoming Suicide Squad), won’t be returning for the next chapter, but reports have it that Jeff Goldblum (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Bill Pullman are expected to reprise their roles from the first film. The Wrap has reported that Michael B. Jordan (the upcoming Fantastic Four) is also being courted for a major role in the sequel. Roland Emmerich, director of the original, has been signed on to helm the sequel, from a screenplay by Carter Blanchard.
No plot details have been leaked as of yet, but distributor 20th Century Fox has its eyes on a June 24, 2016 release date, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original.
