As covered by Variety, Leven Rambin (The Hunger Games, The Path, True Detective) is joining the cast of The Dirt, an upcoming Motley Crüe biopic on Netflix. She will play Sharise Neil, who is the ex-wife of lead vocalist Vince Neil (to be played by Daniel Webber). Machine Gun Kelly will play drummer Tommy Lee, while Douglas Booth will play bassist (and primary songwriter) Nikki Sixx.
Jeff Tremaine (of Jackass fame) will direct the movie, from a script penned by Rich Wilkes and Tom Kapinos. The biopic is based on the 2001 autobiography The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which follows the Crüe during its prime in the 1980’s. The band was notorious for their hard-partying rock and roll lifestyle, with Nikki Sixx famously opening up about heroine addiction, and how the band injected themselves with Jack Daniels IVs.
The movie has been in various stages of pre-production for years. Larry Charles was previously attached to direct The Dirt for Paramount and MTV Films in 2006, before the movie landed at Focus Features in 2015. The movie is currently filming, and the production suffered a mishap on Saturday when one of the crew (not Crüe) members was electrocuted on set.
