Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the most famous artists and thinkers of his time, and it is no surprise that a variety of literature, documentaries, and TV shows are devoted to his work and life. A biopic is in the works, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to play the famous man. Earlier this week, Paramount won the large bidding war for the film’s distribution rights, according to Deadline.
The coincidence is not completely far-fetched, however. According to DiCaprio’s mother, she selected the name Leonardo for her son after he kicked in the womb while she was examining a Da Vinci piece in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, back in 1974. Whether or not the rumor is true, DiCaprio will conveniently be playing a person of the same name. DaVinci is most known for painting “The Mona Lisa”, “The Last Supper”, and for his technological innovations.
DiCaprio most recently starred in The Revenant, in which he won his first Oscar for Best Actor. He is currently also attached to two other films in the future, including possible crime thriller The Black Hand and Killers of the Flower Moon, yet another new film for Martin Scorsese. We are interested to see what direction the film will take, considering no director has been chosen and only the writer of the book, Leonardo Da Vinci, Walter Isaacson, is currently attached to the script. DiCaprio has decided to produce alongside Jennifer Davidson.
