Len Wiseman Hired To Direct Female Oriented ‘John Wick’ Spinoff ‘Ballerina’

Lionsgate has their sights set on Len Wiseman to direct an action spinoff to the successful John Wick franchise entitled Ballerina, according to Deadline. The film will center on a nimble female assailant who seeks revenge against a crime organization that slaughtered her family. Ballerina received the greenlight by Lionsgate, which features a script compiled by Shay Hatten who recently penned Zach Snyder’s interpretation of Army of the Dead for Netflix and even had a hand in writing John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

The film will be produced by a team consisting of Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves, who played the titular John Wick. This character apparently received a brief cameo in the previous John Wick installment but it’s currently unknown at this moment as to whether or not Reeve’s will make an appearance in any capacity. According to the studio, if Reeves does make an appearance it will most likely be a cameo.

Ballerina will undergo production sooner rather than later, despite the further production of John Wick 4.  John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum accumulated more than $323 million globally at the box office and is currently the highest grossing home entertainment product that Lionsgate has released in over five years.
