Legion Of Honor Inducts Tom Cruise

Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has just been given a high honor. France’s Legion of Honor has added Cruise to their list of honorees. Cruise isn’t the first to be knighted by France’s legion for his entertainment contributions, either. As Deadline points out, many others have shared in the honor before Cruise, such as Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, and Orson Welles. Their award goes beyond entertainment, as well, as inducting others such as George Patton and Hellen Keller, for example.

Cruise himself was welcomed by Rachida Dati, the culture minister of France. In a post that Dati made on X, she mentioned how Mission: Impossible- Fallout showcased the city of Paris, while also making note of Cruises’ drive to preserve the experience of movie theaters. Over the years, Cruise has starred in a multitude of films. Some of his earliest roles include Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders, and Paul Brickman’s Risky Business.

His most iconic roles, however, include Top Gun, and its sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, Rain Man, and Tropic Thunder.

He also portrays Ethan Hunt, the main character in the Mission: Impossible films, with the newest installment, a follow-up to Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One currently filming.
