Every one loves Elle Woods, and we may just be lucky enough to get another film about that perky, pink-loving, bad ass lawyer.
Reese Witherspoon is currently speaking with representatives of MGM to reprise her role in Legally Blonde 3, according to Variety.
Along with starring again in the classic role, Witherspoon would produce through her production company Hello Sunshine. Both of the original producers Marc Platt and his production company’s (Platt Productions) president Adam Siegel would also return.
The first film, Legally Blonde, follows Elle as she followed her lost love to Harvard Law school in order to get him back. Instead of that, though, she overcame sexism, stereotypes, and everything in between to wind up at the top of her class and at the center of everyone’s hearts. Along with Witherspoon, the film starred Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge.
The first film made $141.8 million worldwide, making it a huge success for MGM. The sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde grossed a total $124.9 million worldwide. If this next sequel comes to fruition, it is bound to be yet another hit for the studio.
Witherspoon has most recently been involved with A Wrinkle in Time and Big Little Lies which she helps produce.
