Led Zeppelin Documentary Finds its Way to Cannes

The market for the annual Cannes Film Festival has recently received a documentary about the one and only, Led Zeppelin. The project is currently in post-production and is directed by American film director and screenwriter, Bernard MacMahon.

MacMahon is known for directing the 2017 three-part documentary, American Epic, which chronicles the rise of America’s recording studios and the music recorded within them. It was his work on this that convinced the surviving members of the band to sign onto the project. The documentary will feature new interview footage from Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. It will also feature rare interview and general footage of the late John Bonham, who died in 1980, and was the drummer for the band.

The film is being billed as being completely from the perspective of the band and its members, utilizing archival footage, audio, and photographs. It is supposedly set to tell the story of the world’s most iconic and best-selling rock band. Most of the same team featured on MacMahon’s American Epic have returned to work on this project. The film is being sold internationally by Altitude but there is little known about when it will enter the Cannes market and who the interested buying parties might be.
