Lakeith Stanfield May Act in ‘Someone Great’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out) is in the midst negotiations to act in the star-studded romantic comedy Someone Great. The film will be housed at Netflix. Already in the cast are main heroine Gina Rodriguez, DeWanda Wise (TV’s She’s Gotta Have It), and Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect 3). In her feature film directorial debut, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will helm from her own screenplay.

Rodriguez plays a woman who, after a relationship ends badly, ends up heading to the Big Apple, her supportive best friends (Snow, Wise) in tow. Stanfield’s role will feature him as the ex-boyfriend.

If Stanfield does officially sign on, it will be the fifth role he does with Netflix. He previously flexed his voice-acting skills for the live-action Death Note. He will also be acting in The Girl in the Spider’s Web. His movie, Sorry to Bother You, which also stars Tessa Thompson, has also garnered much success at Sundance.
