Lately Disney has been churning out a lot of live-action remakes of their classic animated movies. One of their upcoming projects is a reboot of the original 1955 movie, Lady and the Tramp. The film is set to be released some time in 2019 and it will be exclusive to Disney’s online streaming service.
According to People, the film will be mix of live-action and CGI. Charlie Bean, the director of The Lego Ninjago Movie, is set to direct, and a cast list for the remake has been announced. The eponymous characters Lady and Tramp will be voiced by Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux, respectively. Janelle Monáe of Moonlight fame will also have a role in the film as the character Peg. The rest of the cast as revealed by Deadline includes, Thomas Mann, Kiersey Clemons, Benedict Wong, Ashley Jensen and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Monáe was one of the stars of the award darling Hidden Figures last year and will soon appear alongside Steve Carell in Welcome to Marwen. She is also adding her voice to the upcoming UglyDolls animated film.
