A Star is Born, a new film that directed by and starring Bradley Cooper (Limitless, Silver Linings Playbook), has officially received a different release date. The film’s original release sat on September 28, 2018, but has now shifted to May 18, 2018, removing it from the autumn season of films. The change is significant because the movie’s former date rested in what is often often considered the most competitive quarter in the film season.
A Star is Born will focus on a movie star who ends up helping a young actress to enter the entertainment industry. He refuses to allow his increasing age and his addiction to alcohol to stop him from assisting her, goal which he finds so crucial that he even risks destroying his career. The film gathers is source material from a 1937 movie that starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. It enjoyed two more recreations in the twentieth century, the first of which was in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and the second of which was in 1976 with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Cooper will star alongside a strong cast including Lady Gaga (American Horror Story, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Sam Elliott (Up in the Air, Tombstone), Dave Chappelle (Undercover Brother, The Dave Chappelle Show), Andrew Dice Clay (Entourage, Blue Jasmine), and Bonnie Somerville (Law and Order: SVU, Code Black). We are interested to see how Cooper decides to take the story and how close or far he strays from the source material.
