The Los Angeles Film Festival came to a close on Thursday, June 22nd, and a huge variety of films were displayed to the thousands of attendees of the festival. The film festival judges awarded one of their highest awards, the U.S. Fiction Award, to Becks, a drama about the struggles of a singer-songwriter after a devastating breakup. The U.S. Fiction Cinematography Award was awarded to Everything Beautiful Is Far Away, which tells the story of a man, a woman, and a robot head who travel across a foreign planet in search of a lake that supposedly provides better life.
The film festival splits its awards between U.S. and world releases for the fiction award, with most of the international films having already featured within their home countries. The winner of the World Fiction Award went to The Night Guard (El Vigilante), a film that follows a security guard who gets caught up in a set of crazy events after discovering a crime was committed at the construction site he works at.
Other award winners include And Then There Was Eve for the LA Muse Fiction Award, Serpent for the Nightfall Award, and The Keeping Hours for the Audience Award for Fiction Feature Film.
