Kristen Wiig’s Role Confirmed in ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has confirmed the rumor: Kristen Wiig (mother!) will join the cast of  the Wonder Woman sequel as villainess Cheetah. The news was reported by Deadline.

Jenkins tweeted on Friday, officially stating that Wiig has been cast in the movie.

“So excited to confirm the most thrilling news!,” Jenkins tweeted today (Yes! It’s true. So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot”


Wiig, known for her comedic prowess on Saturday Night Live, broke into the big leagues on the big screen with Bridesmaids in 2011, which she co-wrote as well as starred in. Wiig has several projects on the burner, including voice acting in How to Train Your Dragon 3 in her recurring role as Ruffnut and acting in Richard Linklater’s dramedy Where’d You Go, Bernadette which is currently in post-production.
