Kristen Wiig May Appear in Sebastian Silva’s Newest Film

Now that Anchorman 2 and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty are both set to premiere in December, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) is looking for a new project, and she might’ve already found it: an indie drama called Nasty Baby with writer/director/actor Sebastian Silva (Crystal Fairy).

The Brooklyn movie follows a gay couple, played by Silva and Tunde Adebimpe (Rachel Getting Married), lead singer of TV On The Radio. The couple, Freddy and Mo, want to have a baby, and so they turn to their best girlfriend Anna (potentially played by Wiig), who is a family practitioner that wants a baby, but not a husband. The relationship takes a turn for the worst when Freddy’s sperm doesn’t take and Mo must donate his. The movie centers itself around mixed cultures, a gay couple, and a rather unconventional trio.

Other actors in consideration for roles in the film include Alia Shawkat (The To Do List), infamous for her roles in indie films, Mark Margolis (Black Swan), and Denis O’Hare (C.O.G.). Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) has already been cast in the film to play The Bishop, a menacing man in the neighborhood that causes problems for the Freddy and Mo.

Silva plans on shooting the film soon, and so Wiig should have her final decision shortly. Wiig has shown her promise as a serious actress before in roles such as Lauren in All Good Things, and so doing this project wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for her, but instead would just strengthen her other acting abilities beyond comedy.
