Frozen‘s Anna, Kristen Bell, has signed on for the upcoming Universal comedy Michelle Darnell. The film, starring soon-to-be Ghostbuster Melissa McCarthy as a “titan of industry sent to prison after she’s convicted of insider trading” also features Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage (the upcoming O Lucky Day) and Oscar-winner Kathy Bates (Misery).
The dramedy, from a script McCarthy co-wrote with her husband Ben Falcone and their Groundlings collaborator Steve Mallory, centers on the reinvention of the disgraced titular character upon her release from prison. Bell (Veronica Mars) portrays Darnell’s former assistant, juggling her own life as a single mom looking to start her own business with the challenges of helping her former boss attempt an image rehab.
The film reunites McCarthy and Bates, who appeared together in 2014’s Tammy. Falcone is directing, and he and McCarthy are producing along with along with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and their Gary Sanchez Productions. Michelle Darnell is targeting an April 8th, 2016 release.
