Kodi Smit-McPhee Cast as Young Nightcrawler in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Young up-and-comer Kodi Smit-McPhee has just been cast in X-Men: Apocalypse in the role of a young Nightcrawler, according to director Bryan Singer’s instagram account. His older counterpart – formerly portrayed by Alan Cumming (Spy Kids) in 2003’s X2 – is a mutant with superhuman agility, the ability to teleport, adhesive hands and feet, as well as a light-hearted jokester persona.

Little is known about the film’s synopsis save for another trip back into the X-Men past. Marvel’s X-Men: Apocalypse is slated for a May 27, 2016 release.

Smit-McPhee joins a large who’s-who in Young Hollywood cast, including another actor with similar credits and prospects for his future career, Tye Sheridan (Mud), who was recently cast as a young Cyclops. Depending on your film watching habits, you may already be familiar with Smit-McPhee who has starred in the Cormac McCarthy-adaptation The Road, the Let Me In remake (of Let the Right One In), in addition to an appearance in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He is sure to garner lot more attention once his romantic western Slow West – also starring Michael Fassbender – gets a public release.
