Kirsten Dunst is not coming back as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: No Way Home … or at least that’s what the actress herself claims.
Although several rumors have circulated that Dunst and other cast members of the Spider-Man films directed by Sam Raimi will be part of the new Spidey movie framed within the MCU, recently the actress denied those rumors.
Specifically when asked about her alleged participation in No Way Home during a conversation with Total Film magazine, Dunst assured that she would not be part of that production.
“I’m not in that movie, no. I know there’s rumors, right?” the actress commented, and after Total Film explained her that Alfred Molina will be back as Doc Ock and apparently Willem Dafoe would also be back as the Green Goblin, Dunst added: “No, I’m the only one [not in it]. ‘Can’t put an old girl in there!’”
According to rumors, Kirsten Dunst’s return as Mary Jane Watson would come hand in hand with Tobey Maguire’s alleged appearance. Something that isn’t confirmed but is still one of the most important rumors around the sequel to Spider-Man: Far from Home.
In this regard, Dunst’s comments on these rumors add to previous statements by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, the actors who played Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man saga and have also denied their alleged participation in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Are Dunst, Garfield and Stone lying or did the rumors just get out of hand? We’ll probably only be able to find out when Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters next December.
