Kevin Spacey continues to be charged with sexual assault. This all started with Anthony Rapp, who alleged in 2017 that Spacey sexually assaulted him in 1986 when Rapp was just 14 and Spacey was 26. Spacey was accused of another sexual assault on an 18-year-old man in 2018, but the lawsuit was dropped after the victim refused to testify. Recently Spacey was charged with four counts of sexual assaults, as detailed in Variety.
The four charges were announced Thursday by the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service. Prosecutors have spent a year studying the files they received from the Metropolitan Police, stating:
“The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men. He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”
Spacey’s charges are believed to come from his time at the Old Vic Theater in London, where he was the Creative Director from 2004 to 2015. According to BBC, there were 20 victims coming forward claiming he inappropriate overstepped his boundaries. Spacey denies assaulting Rapp and he is still battling both civil and criminal cases against him. Spacey is currently fighting a 31 million arbitration claim related to his time on House of Cards. Spacey was fired from Netflix after the allegations were made.
