Kevin Spacey Cast In First Film Since Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Kevin Spacey has been cast in his first film since his accusations of sexual assault in 2017. CNN confirmed on Monday that Spacey has been cast as detective in Grindhouse legend Franco Nero’s upcoming film called: L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio. The film will also star Nero and his wife Vanessa Redgrave.

In a phone interview with CNN, the film’s producer Louis Nero said: “I cast him because he is a great actor.”

“I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film,” Franco Nero told ABC News in an interview. “I consider him a great actor and I can’t wait to start the movie.”

This will be Spacey’s first film in four years after allegations of sexual misconduct started to spread about the actor. These began when actor Anthony Rapp told BuzzFeed of a time that Spacey made an advance at him at a party in 1986. Rapp was only 14 years old at the time.

These allegations snowballed, to the point where more than 30 individuals have discussed their experiences with the actor. Following this, Spacey lost his role on the acclaimed Netflix series House of Cards after several crew members alleged that Spacey made the set a “toxic” work environment.

Spacey never did comment on the allegations, but he did issue an apology to actor Anthony Rapp. “I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago, ” Spacey said. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”

Nero has said that Spacey’s role in the film will be in English, while the rest of the film is in Italian.

The film is currently shooting and is set to release early next year.

Spacey has not commented on his involvement in the film.
