Kevin James Stars in ‘Home Team’, The True Story Of New Orleans Coach Sean Payton

Sean Payton is the coach for the New Orleans Saints. Back in 2010, Payton held the Lombardi trophy as he won the Saints for the first-ever Super Bowl. However, the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal announced evidence of former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams had created a program that put targets on oppressing teams’ quarterbacks. Thus, Payton was suspended by the NFL for one whole season.

During his absence, Payton started to coach his son’s sixth-grade football team. The inspiration for the Netflix movie Home Team follows the true story of Payton rekindling his relationship with his son, Connor. Kevin James plays the Saints coach that shows a movie that captures a father learning what he’s missed in his son’s life prior to his suspension.

When Kevin James was asked about the film over on Spectrum NEWS NY1The King of Queens actor had this to say: “The story itself is such an amazing story that it lends itself to an emotional performance and a fun performance. And there is comedy in it, you know, but it’s working with great guys like Taylor. Honestly, it really grounds it and enables me to play off.”

Football fans have a chance to see Kevin James play Sean Payton in  Home Team now streaming on Netflix.
