The official trailer for Kerry Washington’s documentary In the Sun has been released. In the Sun centers on seven families struggling with the consequences of living life in the sun and will be available for streaming and on-demand on April 27.
Washington is executive producing the film for Neutrogena Studios which also happens to be the first film from the studio, the skincare brand’s latest content campaign beyond sharing product stories. The studio strives to produce projects that inform, entertain, and affect positive social change. Washington has been a spokesperson for the company since 2014.
The documentary highlights a diverse group of people united by a shared experience, including just to name a few Courtney, a 27-year-old fighting skin health challenges as her husband serves overseas, and Stu, a vibrant senior who utilizes storytelling to educate others on the progression of sun exposure.
The film also introduces viewers to Dr. Shirley Chi, a dermatologist, who shares her goals to teach and heal patients and juggle dealing with shielding her own children from the sun while addressing easy, but healthy ways to enjoy the splendor of being in the sunshine.
Washington told Variety, “‘In the Sun’ is both powerful and empowering, a testament to the impact that real stories, shot from a diverse range of perspectives, can have on inspiring necessary health outcomes. I’m really looking forward to sharing the film with everyone and seeing future projects coming out of Neutrogena Studios.”
