Kerry Washington Becomes ‘The Perfect Mother’ in Novel Adaptation

Reported this week, Kerry Washington is set to star in and producer the film The Perfect Mother. TriStar just secured the rights to produce the film adaptation of the novel, while Washington will produce under her production company Simpson Street.

Adapted from the upcoming thriller novel by Aimee Molloy, the story will center on a group of women called ‘May Mothers’ living in Brooklyn, New York, who socialize together. But when one of the women finds that her child has been abducted from her crib, the rest find their own lives put into question.

Aimee Malloy co-wrote the memoir Then They Came for Me, which was adapted by Jon Stewart into the 2014 political drama film Rosewater.

Meanwhile, Washington still is signed on to continue her role as Olivia Pope in ABC’s Scandal, which is currently in it’s sixth season. She is also executive producing the ABC tv movie Melting Pots, which centers on a multi-cultural New Jersey family who are struggling to find their place in American culture.
