Paramount Pictures has once again delayed the release of the highly anticipated South Park-Kendrick Lamar collaboration.
Details about the untitled live-action comedy remain tightly under wraps, though the project originates from the creative minds of Lamar, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The screenplay is written by longtime South Park producer, Vernon Chatman. Lamar and Dave Free are producing for pgLang, while Stone and Parker produce through Park County.
Addressing the latest change from the previously announced March 2026 release date, Park County and pgLang shared a brief statement, “It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”
This marks the film’s second major delay. First announced in 2022 with a July 2025 date, the project was pushed due to scheduling conflicts related to Lamar’s tour with SZA and commitments to Paramount’s South Park television series.
Paramount CEO Brian Robbins praised the movie at CinemaCon in April 2024, saying, “This script is one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks.”
The creativity behind this film is undeniable. Lamar, a 22-time Grammy winner, recently shattered records for his single Not Like Us, while Parker and Stone’s South Park has earned 18 Emmy nominations and 4 wins.
An updated release date has yet to be announced.
