As the November release date inches closer, Lionsgate has recently picked up the pace on promoting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The most recent teasers have fallen in line with this week’s Comic-con buzz and up-the-ante stylistically for the closing of the franchise.
The first promotional material released this week was the new theatrical poster that features Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen sitting on the throne statue that (as earlier posters indicate) once supported the likeness of President Snow (see previous posters here).
The blood-red armorr mirrors the spray-painted mockingjay – the symbol of the rebellion – that vandalized the former movie poster.
This imagery shows up again in the video teaser recently released for the film via Facebook.
The promo shows a (somewhat over-the-top) militarized District 13 demonstrating their readiness and prowess to wage war against the Capitol. The rebel army is dressed all in white, allowing Katniss to pull focus in red. Although she is handsomely equipped the most powerful weapon and force is Katniss and her leadership through the symbolic mockingjay.
The film, directed again by Francis Lawrence and also starring Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Sam Claflin, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, is due in theaters on November 20, 2015.
