‘Just Dance’ Movie in Development at Screen Gems

After creating a deal with Ubisoft, Screen Gems have acquired the rights to create a film based on the hit video game series Just Dance. The project will also be developed by Ubisoft themselves alongside Olive Bridge Entertainment to produce the worldwide gaming phenomenon. The film will be made to celebrate the game’s 10 year anniversary as it first premiere in 2009.

The film will have Will Gluck of Easy A fame to produce and write the film, however, despite experience as a director, has not been hired to direct. The film has not received any word of a director just yet. However, one thing that is for certain, the film will do it’s best to feature many of the songs featured in the games. Mainly artists that are Sony based talent are expected to have their songs featured in the films, considering Screen Gems is owned by Sony Entertainment. Talent like Shakira, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, The Chainsmokers and many other are expected to have their songs be featured in this video game adaptation. With the game being a hit on Sony Platforms and having so many musical artists under their belt, it’s expected that Just Dance could make for a prolific film franchise for Sony Pictures.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
