The fifth installment of the Bourne franchise that began with 2002’s The Bourne Identity is gradually coming together now with its second returning star, Julia Stiles (The Prince and Me), according to Deadline. Jason Bourne himself, Matt Damon (Ocean’s Eleven), has already been set to reprise his role from the first three films. Now all the film needs is Joan Allen (The Notebook) to make it a true reunion.
The Universal franchise briefly moved on from the original cast for 2012’s The Bourne Legacy which starred Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy). Now that Damon and Stiles have decided to pick up where they left off along with The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum‘s director Paul Greengrass and the original production team, the fifth untitled film is gaining new steam. This tentpole will add to the growing list of currently successful franchises at Universal which also includes Jurassic World, the Fast and Furious films, and the Fifty Shades adaptations.
After appearing in the 2012 Oscar-winning hit Silver Linings Playbook, Stiles is once again picking up an abundance of film roles. This year she will be starring in The Great Gilly Hopkins alongside legendary actresses Glenn Close (Dangerous Liasons) and Kathy Bates (Titanic), will star in Go With Me alongside Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) and Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) and in 11:55 Holyoke with John Leguizamo (Ice Age).
