Julia Stiles Announces Feature Directing Debut ‘Wish You Were Here’

Actress Julia Stiles will make her directing debut with Wish You Were Here, a romantic drama based on the novel of the same name by Renée Carlino. Stiles also co-wrote the film with the author.

Wish You Were Here is about a woman named Charlotte, who finds herself hopelessly searching for a special spark that seems out of reach. After she experiences an unexpected, whirlwind night of romance with a man named Adam, he ghosts her. Eventually, Charlotte discovers that Adam is terminally ill, so she dedicates herself to helping him live his last days to the fullest.

For now, no cast has been announced attached to the project, but Stiles will not act in it.

Stiles has directed multiple episodes of the TV series Paloma, starring Grace Gummer and Rhys Coiro. As an actress, she’s starred in films such as 10 Things I Hate About You, the Bourne franchise, Silver Linings Playbook, and Hustlers. She also won an Emmy nomination for her guest role on Dexter in 2010.

According to Deadline, producer Molly Conners of Phiphen Pictures said, “We are excited to partner with Julia again for her directorial debut, and we know she will bring an amazing vision and passion to this beautiful and popular story”.
