Jules Feiffer Dies At Age 95

Pulitzer Prize winner Jules Feiffer has died at age 95. Feiffer died in his home in Richfield Springs, New York. The cause of death was reported to be congestive heart failure.

Feiffer was a wonderful satirist, cartoonist, and playwright. He worked on Broadway plays such as Oh! Calcutta!, Knock, Knock, and Little Murders, even earning a Tony nomination in 1976 for Knock, Knock.

This U.S. Army Veteran also wrote a satirical book called Passionella and Other Stories. One of the stories involved the idea of a 4-year-old being drafted to the Army. The nine-minute short, adapted from the book, titled Munro, earned an Oscar nomination. Feiffer was also behind the critically acclaimed film Carnal Knowledge, which earned a WGA Awards nomination.

Finally, Feiffer’s work as a cartoonist will not be forgotten. His satirical cartoons are a true joy to explore, as are his illustrations in children’s books.

Feiffer truly had many talents. It is sad to see him go, and he will be missed. May he rest in peace.
