Josh Gad to Virtually Reunite ‘Lord of the Rings’ Cast This Sunday

Josh Gad has been using his Hollywood influence in combination with the popularity of video calling amidst COVID-19 to reunite casts of fan favorite films online. His YouTube series, Reunited Apart, has already brought together the casts of The Goonies, Back to the Future, and Splash. Now he is bringing together an even larger group for a reunion of the cast of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, 20 years after they were all together filming Fellowship of the Ring.

The video will be debuting on Sunday, May 31 at 9am on Gad’s YouTube channel. Most of the main cast will be in attendance including Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellan, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Bean, Liv Tyler, and more.

The trailer announcing the reunion can be seen below, giving a hint at what’s to come and who’s to make an appearance.

The cast has not been together since the production and premiere of the last of the series in 2003. Some of the cast members were reunited for scenes in the prequel film trilogy The Hobbit, but this will be the largest assembly of the group, made possible across the globe thanks to the power of video calling and streaming to bring people together.
