Jonathan Majors’ Trial is Postponed

Jonathan Majors, who has charges of assault and harassment against him, has a trial with a newly-set date of September 6th, according to Deadline. The source states that the trial was supposed to start on August 3rd, but was postponed by Judge Michael Gaffey following a short hearing. The hearing took place in Manhattan.

If Majors is found guilty, he will face up to a year of jail time. Majors’ initial arrest occurred on March 25th of this year for assault claims, but he and his defense team are “subsequently accusing the NYPD and the overall justice system of ‘racial bias’ and calling the whole matter ‘a witch hunt’,” as noted by Deadline. Priya Chaudhry, the leader of Majors’ defense team, released a statement “claiming in part that ‘last week, we delivered additional compelling evidence to the District Attorney, clearly proving [the alleged victim’s] assault on Jonathan Majors and not the other way around.’”

The actor was granted a temporary order of protection last April, as set by Judge Rachel Pauley, who had handled the previous hearing regarding Majors in June. Majors has been reminded that he must follow the order of protection and is to have no contact with his accuser.
