As Jonathan Majors has been trying to rebuild his image, recordings have been released that detail the once-beloved actor allegedly admitting to committing acts of abuse similar to the ones he was accused of and found guilty of in court. Rolling Stone has acquired audio recordings of Majors seemingly admitting to allegedly committing the abuse. The recordings claim to capture a conversation between Majors and his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
In the audio a speaker that the leaker claims is Majors says “I’m ashamed I’ve ever —I’ve never [been] aggressive with a woman before. I’ve never aggressed a woman — I aggressed you.”
Jabbari replies, “You strangled me and pushed me against the car.”
Majors answers, “Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed,’ yeah. That’s never happened to me.”
Jabbari continues, “Because I said something sarcastically, in your eyes?”
He respondes, “Well clearly, it’s more than that.”
She says, “Something inside of you,” and Majors replies, “Yeah, towards you.” The tape ends there.
The alleged instance in the tape was allegedly recorded in September 2022, months before his 2023 domestic abuse arrest. Previous allegations of abuse, including the instance mentioned in the tape, were blocked from being shared as evidence at Majors’ trial.
Majors was on the rise, starring in multiple acclaimed films, such as Devotion and Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut Creed III. He was also set to be the next Thanos-level villain, Kang the Conqueror, in the MCU, and his next film, Magazine Dreams, was acquired by Searchlight Pictures after a successful Sundance debut.
Majors’ maintained that he was innocent, but was eventually found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. He was given a conditional discharge and sentenced to take a year-long counseling program, avoiding a prison sentence of one year. He was fired from Marvel and from the film 48 Hours in Vegas, where he would have played Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman. Magazine Dreams was also dropped by Searchlight, causing the film’s delay.
After getting dropped by Searchlight, Magazine Dreams was acquired by Briarcliff Distribution, which also distributed the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice. Magazine Dreams will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.
