On Friday, June 26, Puck News reported that Cut Off, the upcoming film directed by Jonah Hill and co-starring Hill and Jennifer Aniston, had been deemed “Unreleasable” by Warner Brothers, who have since removed it from its planned July 17 release, leaving it without scheduled release date. Since then, The Hollywood Reporter has reported that, while production wrapped in January, the film still isn’t ready, and Warner Bros is giving it more time in Post-production. The studio does plan to announce a new release at some point in the near future.
Cut Off is directed by Jonah Hill and written by Ezra Woods. The plot follows two siblings of a wealthy family, played by Hill and Wiig, who find themselves cut off from their family’s wealth. In past comments, Hill has described the film as a “classic comedy” in the vein of comedies like Step Brothers, Clueless, and Trading Places. Here’s Jonah Hill’s full comments on the film:
“I’m about to go on a run of just the dumbest shit you’ve ever seen in your entire life. I hope you left your brains at home. called Cut Off, and Kristen Wiig and I play two dumbass heirs — rich kids in their mid-40s who get cut off by their rich parents, played by Bette Midler and Nathan Lane.”
The film’s cast also includes Camila Cabello, Adriana Barraza, and Chelsea Peretti.
