The cast of David O. Russell’s next film is shaping up to be star-studded with the addition of John David Washington to the cast list. Margot Robbie and Christian Bale are already attached to the Silver Linings Playbook director’s new project.
Production on the film was planned to start April 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 production shutdown. Now the project is eyeing to start production in Los Angeles this January.
Russell hasn’t been in the director’s chair since his 2015 film, Joy, which starred Jennifer Lawrence. Russell also previously worked with Bale on the 2013 film, American Hustle.
Washington has been in high demand as of late. The actor starred in Christopher Nolan’s recently released sci-fi action thriller, Tenet. He’ll also star opposite Zendaya in the Netflix film Malcolm & Marie, one of the first movies to be made during the pandemic.
Michael B. Jordan was originally attached to star in the project alongside Robbie and Bale, but it appears that Washington will be his replacement. It’s unclear what caused Jordan to depart from the film, but some speculate that it may be due to scheduling issues. The actor has lot of projects in the works, including a third Creed film and a starring role in Ryan Coogler’s new “based on true story” drama Wrong Answer.
