John Boyega Admits His ‘Star Wars’ Script Landed On eBay

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’s script was sold online on eBay thanks to John Boyega. Up until recently, Disney had kept close guard on what they wanted the fans to see, so it’s only understanding that all that hard work would go to waste if anything leaked out before its release. Director J.J. Abrams, however, recently announced that an ‘unnamed cast member’ had lost track of their script, which ended up in other hands and auctioned on eBay to anyone willing to pay. Disney, however, managed to quickly purchase the script so it would be taken down immediately before anything got leaked out.

In a GMA interview with Michael Strahan, John Boyega admitted that it was his script being sold, although he explained it was an accident. While defending his case Boyega said, “Let me tell you how this all went down. What happened was, it was actually from my apartment. I was moving apartments and I left the script under my bed. I was just like, you know what, I’m going to leave it under my bed. When I wake up in the morning, I’ll take it and then move. But then my boys came over and we started partying a little bit. And then the script, it just stayed there. And then a few like weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds the script and then puts on eBay for like £65. So the person didn’t know the true value. And I actually thought this was a great opportunity for the fans to read the movie before they see it. Maybe I’m on to something. You know what I mean?”

Luckily Disney was able to retrieve their script for what could have been a disastrous start to the last Star Wars film.
