Joe Manganiello Rumored to Return As Deathstroke for Reshoots for Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’

The upcoming director’s cut of Justice League is still getting a ton of traction. With recent news that Jared Leto would be returning to re-shoots scenes as the Joker for Zack Snyder’s cut of the film, it was only a matter of time that talk of another DC Cinematic Universe actor gets a second shot. As Joe Manganiello will potentially be part of the upcoming re-shoots to Snyder’s Justice League, returning as Deathstroke.

Deathstroke also known as Slade Wilson, is a famous character in the Batman comics as a rival for Batman, known for his assassination skills. The character did make an appearance in the original theatrical cut of the film, where he was also played by Joe Manganiello. He appeared as a part of the post credits scene for the film, where he meets with Lex Luther to form the Legion of Doom. However, with the poor reception of Justice League both financially and critically, many did not expect this post credits to scene to lead up to anything major, but that might change now.

Manganiello will be appearing in the Snyder Cut and stated back when the film was officially announced, he stated the original Snyder had planned will be attached. However, nothing has been officially confirmed that he will be returning to the film for these re-shoot, but it has been brought more into light with a recent appearance of the actor on twitch supporting a look that’s very similar to the character. Manganiello also did stated in a recent interview regarding that cut that, “If I was a part of it, that wouldn’t be my place to announce that. That would be Zack’s place. So, whether or not that’s happening, that is an answer that is below my NDA level”. Either way the potential of him as Deathstroke could be seen as very exciting for another actor to portray a new film version of a popular comic book character.

The director’s cut of Justice League is set for release early 2021 on HBO Max

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
