Julianne Moore makes headlines again as the actress is set to star in Makeready’s upcoming film based on Amy Butcher’s memoir entitled Mothertrucker according to Deadline. Jill Soloway is attached as the film’s director and chief writer. Butcher is a critically-acclaimed author and writer and Soloway is notable for her Emmy-winning work as a writer and producer for Transparent, I Love Dick and Afternoon Delight.
Mothertrucker will be published by the Amazon Publishing imprint Little A in early 2022 with a film set to be released by Focus Features as part of a distribution deal between Makeready and Universal Pictures.
Soloway will also act as a producer alongside Andrea Sperling through Topple Productions. Moore herself will also serve as a producer as well as Bart Freundlich through their Fortysixty banner. Pam Abdy and Natalie Williams will oversee the film for Brad Weston’s studio.
Mothertrucker follows Amy Butcher’s rare friendship with a fifty-year-old Instagram icon and renowned ice road trucker Joy Mothertrucker, who endured a 13 year career driving big rigs through some of America’s most dangerous roads. Galvanized by Joy’s optimism, Amy travels to Alaska to accompany the truck driver through the Arctic wilderness and find solace in nature.
Soloway is represented by UTA.
