Sources for Variety are claiming that Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game) is in talks to star in the next chapter of the It saga. She would play the adult version of Beverly Marsh, one of the seven members of a group of social misfits called The Losers’ Club. The sequel is said to chronicle the second-half of Stephen King’s book (curiously titled It), where the kids have grown into larger versions of children who no longer easily fit into the sewer. The script (penned by Gary Dauberman) is said to follow the last half of the book closely, so expect to see flashbacks involving the cast of kids from the 2017 It film.
Negotiations are still early (as is the script), but Chastain has already been discussed as a possible star of the horror sequel by returning director Andy Muschietti. Plus, Chastain previously worked with Muschietti on the film Mama. As for the rest of the cast, Bill Skarsgard is likely to return to his acclaimed role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and it seems logical that Sophia Lillis would return as the younger version of Beverly. Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Chosen Jacobs, and Wyatt Oleff will likely reprise their Losers’ Club roles as well.
It: Chapter Two is supposed to hit theaters on September 6, 2019. Are you excited by this potential casting news, or would you rather see Amy Adams (or a relative unknown) tackle the role? Let us know in the comments below.
