Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgard to Play Crime Cousins in ‘The Hummingbird Project’

Oscar nominated director Kim Nguyen (War WitchTwo Lovers and a Bear) is coming back to indie film with a thriller called The Hummingbird Project, a film which she has written and will direct. According to Deadline, Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgard have signed on to star in the thriller.

The story is being described as a “modern epic” and will tell the tale of two cousins, Vincent and Anton, one “the brain” and the other “the hustler”. Together, they deal in high stakes games of High Frequency Trading where winning is measured in nanoseconds. The two devise a plan to build a fiber optic cable running from Kansas to New York that would make the pair millionaires. With their former trading boss breathing down their necks and hoping to take them down, the plan does not go off without a hitch.

[It is] an adventure with heart and soul, said Nguyen. ” When I started writing the story I immediately thought that it had a really, really cool plot, and that there was a genuine purpose for bringing it to the screen. Jesse and Alexander are the ideal duo for this project, I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Eisenberg was last seen in Cafe SocietyNow You See Me 2 and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. He will be returning to is role as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Justice League movie. He is also writing and starring in his very own series called The Market, which is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions.
