According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts have joined Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton in Red Sparrow.
Red Sparrow is an adaptation of Jason Matthews’ novel which follows a Russian Intelligence Officer (Lawrence) who is forced against her will to become a trained seductress, A.K.A. a “Sparrow.” In doing so, she falls for a young CIA operative and weighs the choice of becoming a double agent. Francis Lawrence, who directed the final three installments of The Hunger Games franchise, reunites with leading lady Jennifer Lawrence to direct the film. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, The Lone Ranger) wrote the script.
Irons can be seen in the upcoming video game adaptation of Assassin’s Creed and Disney’s Their Finest and of course, you can soon catch him again reprising the role of Alfred Pennyworth in next year’s Justice League. Schoenaerts recent work includes The Danish Girl and A Bigger Splash. He will soon star in Netflix’s Our Souls at Night with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.
