Jennifer Lawrence has been chosen as 2025’s recipient of the San Sebastian Film Festival’s distinguished Donostia Award. The Academy Award-winning actress will accept the award at a gala held on Friday, September 26th, at the Kursaal Auditorium, which will be succeeded by a screening of her recent film, Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love, which premiered at Cannes earlier this year. Previous awardees of the Donosita Award include Cate Blanchett, Pedro Almodóvar, Denzel Washington, Marion Cotillard, Ethan Hawke, and David Cronenberg.

Lawrence has led critically acclaimed films, including Silver Linings Playbook, which won her the 2012 Academy Award for Best Actress, American Hustle, mother!, and Don’t Look Up. Lawrence also starred as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games film series from 2012 to 2015. In 2018, Lawrence co-founded a production company, Excellent Cadaver, with business partner Justine Ciarrocchi. The company has “built a dynamic slate of critically lauded projects” that include documentaries Bread & Roses and Zurawski v. Texas, along with features such as Causeway and No Hard Feelings

Die My Love also stars Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte, joining a lineup of films that will screen at San Sebastian. The confirmed slate includes Bad Apples, led by Saoirse Ronan, Hedda, starring Tessa Thompson, Angelina Jolie’s Couture, and the Colin Farrell-led feature Ballad of a Small Player.
