If there is one sequel that is needed during this pandemic, it’s for a sequel for Yes Day. Well, as luck would have it, it was announced Wednesday that Golden Globe winner Jennifer Garner who stars in Yes Day as Allison Torres, will team up again with Netflix to make a sequel and reprise her role from the first film.
The family comedy is based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s children’s book, and it revolved around a mother and father who typically say no, but one day decided to give yes to their kid’s wildest wishes, subject to a few ground rules, of course, on a whirlwind day of fun. So, what could possibly go wrong?
Edgar Ramírez (Jungle Cruise) and Jenna Ortega (You) also starred in the first film but no news yet if they too will reprise their roles.
“Having known Scott for fifteen years, there is a reason his relationships in the business stand the test of time. He is as true blue as he is smart and intuitive about filmmaking. Reed [Hastings], Ted [Sarandos], and Scott have built a safe, collaborative home for storytellers— I am honored to join the awesome group of creatives in the Netflix family, and I am extremely excited to work with their passionate and innovative teams across all departments,” said Garner. “I had the most gratifying, creative experience bringing YES DAY to life. Seeing Netflix’s global reach as the Torres family wreaked havoc in homes all over the world makes me eager to dive in with another Day of Yes; I can’t wait. I am grateful for Netflix’s continued support and look forward to mixing it up across the board with this partnership.”
Yes Day is one of Netflix’s huge successes, with already 62 million viewings.
This sequel is currently in development.
