Jennifer Aniston Stars In ‘Life Of Crime’ Premiering at TIFF September 15

Jennifer Aniston stars in Daniel Schechter’s ‘Life Of Crime’.

Life Of Crime is writer/director Daniel Schechter’s (Supporting Characters, Goodbye Baby) prequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 adaptation of  Jackie Brown. The thriller will premiere September 15, as the closing selection at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Schecter has adapted the script from Elmore Leonard’s (Jackie Brown, Get Shorty, 3:10 To Yuma) novel, The Switch. (The 87-year-old Elmore Leonard is currently in the hospital recovering from a stroke. We send him our best wishes for a speedy rehabilitation).

The story takes place in 1970’s Detroit when two common criminals, played by John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone, The Sessions) and Mos Def/Yasiin Bey (The Italian Job) kidnap the wife (Jennifer Aniston) of a corrupt real estate mogul Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River). Their get rich quick scam for collecting a large ransom is thwarted when they are informed that Tim Robbins’ character is in love with his young mistress, played by Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby, Wedding Crashers), and doesn’t care if he gets his wife back. In fact, it would make things better for him if he didn’t get her back.

John Hawkes, Mos Def/Yasiin Bey and Jennifer Aniston in ‘Life of Crime’.

Will Forte (The Watch) and Mark Boone Jr. (Memento, Batman Begins, Sons of Anarchy) also star. Life of Crime will help close out the ten day Toronto International Film Festival.

Michael Siegel, Elizabeth Destro, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jordan Kessler and Lee Stollman are producing.
